Sant Mateu d’Albarca
Situated at the edge of a beautiful red-earth valley, Sant Mateu d’Albarca is a small still village, beating quietly in the Ibicenco heartland. Like most Ibicenco villages, what stands out the most is the traditional rural church with its impeccably white-washed walls. There is also a bar, Es Camp Vell; a restaurant, Can Cires; and a few country houses.
As one of the island’s most enduring rural areas, Sant Mateu is home to a great many vineyards with their corresponding wineries. It is situated to the north of Sant Antoni de Portmany and is well worth the drive to see its marvellous fields and farmsteads.
It is linked by highway to the towns of Sant Rafel, Santa Gertrudis, Sant Miquel and Santa Agnès.
